Well, it has begun -- the seed catalogs are arriving and I've started buying my seed starting gear for the year. So for the third year, this time with a new name, my tomato seedling business begins again. (The Angelfish name, btw, came from a distinct slash on the surface of my ciabatta recipe.)
Right now I'm planning tomatoes and pumpkins, possibly chile peppers. If you're in the Cape or Cambridge/Boston area, let me know what you're interested in, since I need to know what to grow this year. I am already planning on growing San Marzano plum tomatoes and Costoluto Genovese beefsteaks (the latter of which was my most successful variety last year), as well as Peacevine Cherry, but I'm planning on adding a few, including Striped Cavern (a stuffing tomato) and an early season tomato (possibly Bloody Butcher, but that isn't written in stone at this point). Pumpkins will include last year's Connecticut Field, as well as Rouge Vif d'Etampes, aka the Cinderella pumpkin; I haven't made any decisions on chile peppers yet, but I'll probably go for some very hot ones like pequin and habanero. I'm dropping the Juliet grape tomatoes this year -- they didn't sell well and I would prefer to go with all open-pollinated varieties. (Resources permitting, I may even grow some hanging tomato plants towards the end of the season for people who want fall and winter tomatoes.)
